My name is Scott Allen Wilson, and I’ve been a resident of Florence, Italy since 2012. I’m originally from Southern California, but I’ve spent the past decade living here, while also working as a travel photographer throughout most of Europe. Currently on my online store you can find artistic framed prints that I’ve created from several cities in Italy, with new cities, countries, and collection releases happening about every month. If you’re interested in my full bio read on here.

I feel so honored to have some of my pieces of Florence on display here at  Caffetteria Piansa – Via Gioberti – a place where I’ve truly feel at home for years. I used to live down the street, and I’m so thankful I did! Piansa really has the best coffee in town, with the nicest staff too – and I tell everyone I know the same thing. 🙂

My favorite things to order at Caffe Piansa are a Flat White + a Cremino (or 2!), or a V60 pour over and their amazing vegan coconut / chocolate pastry – whatever you choose though, you can’t go wrong! If you’ve got a Nespresso machine at home, they also sell their own capsules filled with the coffee they serve.  I always make sure to have in stock at home 🙂

If you’re enjoying my art installation – please grab a coffee and some delicious pastries!

While you’re here, please also take a moment to follow me on social media, subscribe to my newsletter or contact me directly to say hi – I’d love to hear from you 🙂

Works of art on display in this semi-permanent exhibition:

Morning Light

I’ve lived down the street from Santa Croce for a few of years now, and I have to admit that it’s one of the more challenging churches to capture. Thankfully on this particular morning the soothing colors of day break were on my side. The print has been realized on glossy Fuji Crystal Archive paper, and mounted beneath acrylic glass, and surrounded by a beautiful walnut floater frame.

If you’re a fan of Santa Croce, you’ll also appreciate Santa Croce in other shades and lighting in Santa Croce, Sanctuary, and La Dolcezza.

Florentia

This landscape view of Florentia (Latin for Florence), Italy, was taken by Photographer Scott Allen Wilson from the hill just above Piazzale Michelangelo. This photo (Nadir’s favorite) shows the city wrapped in beautiful earthy tones at sunrise, and is surrounded by a walnut floater frame. The print has been realized on glossy Fuji Crystal Archive paper, and is displayed underneath a glossy float glass.

If you’re a fan of photos overlooking Florence, Italy also check out Florentine Snow, Città Del Fiore, and The Reason [B&W].

So Fresh, So Clean

I think we can agree that if one word could be used to describe this piece of art, it would be ‘Sexy’.

The star of this shot is of course the famous Cathedral of Florence. To capture this close-up photo I used a Canon 300mm f2.8mm lens for maximum detail. This particular piece is also unique as it’s usually mounted beneath matte float glass with a white passepartout and frame as you can see here. For this exhibition however, I decided that my white floater frame and glossy acrylic finish would be the right combination. What do you think? Do you love it? (Mattia said it’s his favorite) If you want to submit a custom request for this piece in particular shoot me a message here.

If you’re a fan of detailed shots of the Duomo, then you should also check out The Past Tells, The Light Inside, Essence, The Order of Things, and Distorto.

Resilient

Ponte Vecchio – one of the most recognized bridges in the world has been presented here from a unique perspective – rich with color, vibrance, and symmetry.. The water and the sky divided by the colorful bridge provoke a relaxing mood. Its shades of yellow and earthy colors can bring life an contrast to a variety of spaces.

This artistic photograph was captured in Florence, Italy by Photographer and Digital Artist, Scott Allen Wilson. The print has been realized on Hahnemühle FineArt Pearl paper, and has been mounted with an anthracite passe-partout. The mounted print is displayed underneath a matte float glass, and surrounded by a beautiful ebony solid wood frame.

If you love the Ponte Vecchio, then you’ll also be a fan of As The Sun Sets, Florentine Fog, and Ponte Vecchio.

Santo Spirito

If the churches of Florence had a ‘Cool Kid’, Santo Spirito would be it. In various restaurants and bars in the city you’ll find chair-backs and wooden works of art with the iconic shape of the façade of this church – and I honestly love it. I also love minimalism, and if I had a piece of art that perfectly represented this style – Santo Spirito would be it. This piece is printed on a panchromatic Ilford B&W paper, and mounted with a bright white passe-partout. A matte float glass covers the image and it’s framed by a beautiful ebony solid wood frame.

If you’re a fan of Santo Spirito like I am, you’ll also appreciate my other works of art including: Il Solito, and Ci Si Becca.

Unrefined

The beauty of simplicity is shown in this artistic color print of the facade of Basilica di San Lorenzo, taken by Scott Allen Wilson, Photographer and Digital Artist. In the lower middle of the photo a wooden door is being framed by asymmetrical bricks, placed almost in an unorganized way that ends up forming a perfect composition. This piece in particular is a part of a larger series I’ve been capturing – detailed shots of famous facades, presented in crude and minimalistic, yet beautiful ways. This print has been realized on glossy Fuji Crystal Archive paper, and mounted beneath acrylic glass. The mounted print is surrounded by a beautiful solid wood frame.

If you like Unrefined, then you’ll also be a fan of Medici Riccardi. More of this series will be released soon 🙂
