Lucca has always invited me to slow down. I’ve returned to the city many times- sometimes for a day, sometimes longer- but the rhythm is always the same. Walk the walls, drift into the city through alleys and side streets. Fade in and out of the main piazze, and in general just let the structure of the place in relation to the light and contrasting shadows shape how I move, and how I see. You can literally never run out of subject material in a place like Lucca.

Some of my favorite images that I’ve captured were taken during early mornings, or late in the afternoon. The more you visit Lucca, the more you start to appreciate her more. You start to notice incredible details- various textures, amazing contrast, and her sometimes subtle, yet always beautiful imperfections.
