The Amphitheater

Photographer and Digital Artist, Scott Allen Wilson captures a close view of the Amphitheater located in Verona, Italy. The geometric patterns of this print are perfect to combine with modern straight decoration. The print has been realized on Hahnemühle FineArt Pearl paper and mounted with an anthracite passe-partout. It is displayed underneath a matte float glass and surrounded by a beautiful ebony solid wood frame. Every element of this piece was individually selected with the intention of being a part of a unified piece of art.

I think this print perfectly encapsulates the essence and the energy of Verona, Italy. I hope you love it 🙂

Thoughts and Ponderings about The Amphitheater

The Verona Amphitheatre, also known as the Arena di Verona, is an ancient Roman arena located in Verona, Italy. It is considered one of the largest and best-preserved ancient Roman amphitheatres in the world, and is one of Verona’s most popular tourist attractions. The arena was built in the 1st century AD and was used for gladiatorial contests, animal hunts, and other spectacles.

The amphitheatre has a circular shape, with a diameter of approximately 140 meters, and could seat up to 20,000 spectators. It is made of pink and white marble and is known for its well-preserved exterior and interior arches. In the Middle Ages, the arena was used as a fortification, and many of the ancient structures were incorporated into the fortifications. Today, much of the original Roman structure has been restored, and the arena is used for a variety of events, including concerts, operas, and plays.

The Verona Amphitheatre is considered a testament to the engineering and architectural skills of the ancient Romans, and is a popular destination for history buffs and architectural enthusiasts. It is also a unique example of the way that ancient structures have been adapted and used over time, and is an important symbol of Verona’s rich cultural heritage.
