Torre del Gardello

At the corner of Piazza delle Erbe stands the Torre del Gardello taken by Photographer and Digital Artist, Scott Allen Wilson in Verona, Italy. The tower rising high between the buildings becomes the main subject and gives the image balance and symmetry. The print has been realized on Hahnemühle FineArt Pearl paper and mounted with an anthracite passe-partout. It is displayed underneath a matte float glass and surrounded by a beautiful ebony solid wood frame. Every element of this piece was individually selected with the intention of being a part of a unified piece of art.

I think this print perfectly encapsulates the essence and the energy of Verona, Italy. I hope you love it 🙂

Thoughts and Ponderings about Torre del Gardello

The Torre del Gardello is a tower located in Verona, Italy. It is one of the city’s most notable landmarks and is considered to be an important example of medieval military architecture.

The tower was built in the 14th century as part of the city’s fortifications and was used to guard one of the entrances to Verona. It was designed with several stories of rooms, and it was equipped with arrow slits and battlements, which were used by soldiers to defend the city.

Over the years, the tower has undergone several renovations and additions, and it has served a variety of purposes, including as a military stronghold, a prison, and a residential building. Today, the tower is privately owned and is not open to the public.

Despite its somewhat unremarkable appearance, the Torre del Gardello is an important symbol of Verona’s rich history and cultural heritage. It is a reminder of the city’s military past, and it is a testament to the ingenuity and resourcefulness of the city’s medieval builders and defenders.
