At this point Cinque Terre and I go way back. I’ve photographed it in a lot of ways over the years, but this collection is different- every image was taken from the water. It’s about seeing the villages the way they were meant to be seen- perched on stone, holding their shape, standing between sea and sky.
From that distance, the perspective shifts. You’re not caught in the crowd or looking for the next turn. You’re watching how Manarola spills down the rock, how Monterosso pulls itself flat against the coast, how each town finds its own rhythm inside the landscape. Light travels differently out there. The colors change slower. The whole coastline feels like a composition- balanced, layered, precise.
These images were made with time and attention- shot during calm moments when the sea held still and the villages opened up. Printed on gallery-quality archival paper and framed to match their tone, each piece reflects not just place, but position.
This is Cinque Terre from the outside looking in- not to escape it, but to understand how it holds together.
