Cinque Terre – A New Colorful Collection of Artistic Prints for Lovers of Italy

View of Monterosso al Mare in Cinque Terre, Italy. Colorful houses dot the hills overlooking the sea. By Photographer Scott Allen Wilson.

My love affair with Cinque Terre began many years ago, when I first visited this enchanting land. The colorful houses, the shimmering sea, and the green cliffs that line the seaside stole my heart almost immediately. So far I’ve been lucky enough to visit Cinque Terre on three different occasions, and I guess this is one benefit of living so close to a place like this, as each time I visited I wasn’t feeling the rush of seeing everything all at once; I was able to really take my time to connect with the surroundings, and truly dive into what makes Cinque Terre so special.

During my trips to Cinque Terre, I even had the chance to shoot from a boat with my essentials: the Canon 70-200 f2.8L Mk III and the Cotton Carrier Harness. This allowed me to capture shots that would be impossible for you to see otherwise! 🙂

Needless to say – I am thrilled to announce the release of my latest collection of framed artwork. This collection has been 6 years in the making, featuring 19 unique prints that showcase the colorful and artistic essence of each of these five towns of the beautiful Cinque Terre.

In The Balance

Cinque Terre, Italy

If you are not familiar with Cinque Terre, it is a coastal paradise located on the Ligurian Coast in North Eastern Italy. What makes it unique is the way human creation and nature are able to coexist there. Each of the 5 towns has it’s own character, but they all seem to blossom like geographic flowers bursting with color from the surrounding dramatic landscapes – from terraced vineyards and gardens to the rocky shores that gracefully cascade down to the sea.

In The Balance, I feel perfectly encapsulates the nature of the five towns of Cinque Terre. When I look at this image, I can’t help but feel a sense of hope – like the beacon of dreams has been lit, and it’s shining brightly for anyone who gaze their eyes upon it.

If you’ve just discovered what Cinque Terre is, or if you already visited these towns and wish to come back- I hope you will feel the atmosphere of these cities through my new prints, and I hope you’ll feel inspired to spend quality time in each of the 5 locations to breathe in not only the salty sea air, but also the rich history and local cuisine.

Let’s go to cinque terre! 😀

Cinque Terre, Italy

Let’s start with Riomaggiore. If you love seafood, this is the place to be!

Its lively harbor is surrounded by cafes and restaurants where you can have truly amazing seafood. Riomaggiore is the starting point of the Cinque Terre trail that connects all five towns, offering spectacular views of the sea, the cliffs, and the vineyards.

But most importantly: you get to enjoy the triumph of colors that are the typical buildings of this area. In Windows To Our Souls I caught the dreamy allure of this view that you don’t get to see anywhere else.

Next up is Manarola, built on a rocky promontory and surrounded by terraced vineyards that produce its delicious local wine Sciacchetrà: a must-try if you visit!

One the best panoramic viewpoints of Manarola is from the hillside above the town seen in As The Wind, So The Water, where you can admire the beautiful sea and the green cliffs that line the seaside.

Fun fact: on my second trip to Cinque Terre, I found out Manarola doesn’t have a beach, but you can try cliff-jumping and snorkeling there! 😉

Then we move to the smallest of the five towns, Corniglia.

This is also the only one of the towns of Cinque Terre that is not directly connected to the sea. However, once you get there you can admire its stunning views.

The town itself is filled with the typical colorful houses, narrow old streets, and charming cafes where you can sit down and relax before proceeding to our next stop. By relax, I of course mean – feel the need to relax considering the ~380 steps it takes to get to the top 😉

And now we are in Vernazza, which is perhaps the most picturesque of all five towns.

It is located around a natural harbor, the perfect place to sit and watch the boats go by while surrounded by lush greenery and colorful buildings. Vernazza is also home to a breathtaking gem: a beautiful church that is literally at the waters edge. How amazing is that?!

On my first trip to Cinque Terre, I climbed the steep street up to the tower of the hill in Vernazza, and found myself in front of a magnificent view looking down on the town and the coastline. With Dreaming of Vernazza and Su In Alto, I wanted to encapsulate the essence of the town as a converging point of both natural and spiritual beauty.

And our last stop is: Monterosso al Mare! Last but not least, it looks exactly how you would imagine the Italian summer of your dreams to look like. This is actually where I spent most of my time with my girlfriend, our two dogs, and her parents on our last trip to Cinque Terre. (It was during this trip that I took most of the photos that are features in this collection 😉 )

Monterosso al Mare the largest and most developed town of the Cinque Terre and it is divided into two parts: the old town with the historic center and the signature colorful buildings, and the new town where you can find a variety of amenities for visitors. Here you can also sunbathe on a long sandy beach like the one I captured in Acqua Marina and Seaside Dream.

The beauty of nature here is ever-present, you can catch a glimpse of it anywhere you look: in Roccia Viva the rock face of the promontory creates mesmerizing designs.

Each one of these towns completely charmed me with the three elements that make them unlike any other place in the world: the colorful architecture, the green cliffs that line their coast, and the Ligurian sea, with its deep blue color and ever-changing moods.

The prints in this collection focus on each of these elements, and I hope you’ll agree that I have used my camera to capture them in all their glory, and the result is a collection of prints that is both beautiful and striking.

An Escape to Anywhere

Design Inspiration, Cinque Terre

As an artist, I think of photography as an art medium, and I believe that these prints are an example of how photography can be used to create stunning works of art. Each print is printed on high-quality paper and is framed in a beautiful frame that complements the colors and style of the print. The frames themselves are works of art, and they are designed to be an elegant addition to any home or office.

For those who are passionate about Italy, photography, and interior decoration, I hope you find something you love in this collection of framed art. Whether you have traveled to Cinque Terre before or have always wanted to, these prints will transport you to this magical part of Italy, capturing its essence in a timeless yet contemporary manner.

 Cheers until next time!
