Siena is a medieval hilltown located in the Tuscany region of Italy. It is known for its well-preserved historical center, rich cultural heritage, and stunning architecture. Siena has a long and fascinating history, dating back to the Etruscan era. The city reached its height of prosperity in the Middle Ages and was a major center of commerce, art, and culture. It is renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture, which includes Gothic palaces, churches, and public squares. The most famous of these is Piazza del Campo, a large shell-shaped square that is the site of the annual Palio horse race. Leaving the city center you can see a beautiful view of the city – especially at sunset which you can see depicted here 🙂
