Medium Aevum

Photographer Scott Allen Wilson shows the roof tops of a medieval street in Siena, Italy. The narrow street guides the view to the top of the hill walking through the path of medieval town houses. This print can contribute to a decoration in warm colors. It has been realized on Hahnemühle FineArt Pearl paper and mounted with an anthracite passe-partout. The mounted print is displayed underneath a matte float glass and surrounded by a beautiful ebony solid wood frame. Every element of this piece was individually selected with the intention of being a part of a unified piece of art.

I think this print perfectly encapsulates the essence and the energy of Siena, Italy. I hope you love it 🙂

Thoughts and Ponderings about Medium Aevum

Siena, Italy is known for its warm and vibrant color palette, particularly in its buildings. The city’s architectural heritage is a testament to its rich history and cultural traditions, and the warm colors used in its buildings play a large role in defining the city’s unique character.

The buildings of Siena are typically constructed from a warm and honey-colored sandstone, which is quarried from nearby hills. This material, combined with the city’s sunny climate, gives Siena’s buildings a warm and inviting appearance.

In addition to the warm color of the sandstone, Siena’s buildings are also known for their use of colorful marble accents. The city’s iconic Torre del Mangia, for example, is adorned with alternating bands of white and dark red marble, which gives the tower a distinctive striped appearance. Other buildings in the city feature intricate marble carvings and inlaid designs, which add depth and texture to their façades.

Siena’s warm and vibrant color palette is an important part of the city’s cultural heritage and is a defining characteristic of its architectural style. Whether you’re admiring the city’s historic cathedrals, strolling its narrow streets, or exploring its many public squares, the warm colors of Siena’s buildings are sure to make a lasting impression.
