Website Launch Announcement

Scott Allen Wilson, Photographer

Greetings Everyone,

I’m excited to share some very exciting news with all of you- cause let’s be honest, we all need some more positivity this year, but first, I’d like to share a few things with you.

2020 has been a very challenging year for everyone, and everyone has had struggles and difficulties to face. Depending on where you live, and what industry you work(ed) in- so many different factors have really made this year uniquely difficult for everyone in a variety of ways.

At the end of March, 2020 the company I was working for was forced to make a difficult decision. In the face of this pandemic, they were forced to lay off about 80% of their staff in order to not go out of business. We were faced with a an unprecedented situation in which entire industries- huge portions of the global economy had came to a complete standstill- without a glimpse into what the future would bring. This was something that even our brilliant BI and Finance teams could not have predicted or modelled for, and so subsequently me and many of my colleagues I had the pleasure of working with in the tourism industry for 5+ years became unemployed.

As an American living in Florence, Italy, I was presented with what has arguably been the most challenging period of my life that I have ever faced, and even as I write this- the light at the end of the tunnel is yet to be seen. Italy now faces it’s second wave, and Tuscany, where I live, will be categorized as risk level “RED” – the highest level in the country, starting on Sunday, November 15, 2020.

If Covid has forced us to do anything good- it’s to understand how much of a global community we all are, and how much our collective actions can really impact the lives and livelihoods of people around the world. It’s taught many of us humility, reminded many of us of our humanity, and has brought many of us to realize the value of investing in, supporting, and positively contributing to our communities, famililes, friends, and loved ones.

This pandemic has also forced many of us to grow, adapt, and change so that we can mentally, physically, and financially survive.

As many of you know, I am a professional photographer, but for the majority of my career I’ve made a living being hired by other clients, or have offered photography as an accessory service, while making my living wage via other methods. Due to the circumstances created by this pandemic, I’ve decided to invest in myself as an artist, and to once again pursue the path of working for myself as a creative professional.

This website https://www.scottallenwilson.com/ has been a long time coming- 10+ years in fact, and I’m finally ready to sell my work, and offer my professional services. This really is a big deal for me, as photography has been a passion of mine for a long time, and I feel really excited to continue to build out my product offering from the thousands of images I’ve taken over the years from my travels to 20+ countries and countless cities.

I hope you enjoy the landscape, portrait, creative, and fine art prints I have already loaded onto my website, and that you will continue to check back as I continually add more photos over the course of the next weeks, months, and years.

I feel so fortunate to have been able to travel as much as I have, and therefore I’m also excited to share that 15% of all print sales are being donated to charity. At the time of writing this post, I currently support 8 charities, and during checkout you will have the opportunity to choose one on your own, or if you’d prefer I can also choose for you. You can find more details about this here: https://www.scottallenwilson.com/charities.
